élanCIPATION

I formed a band in 1997 or so with the name bright-blue. We performed a lot of cover tunes and wrote some of our own songs in the folk-rock genre. In this particular iteration, the band consisted of only 3 members, myself on guitars and vocals (and most of the songwriting), Peggy Alfred on vocals, and Leslie Pelton on vocals. We recorded this album in the latter part of 1998 and into 1999, finally releasing it in Sept of 1999.

I had great ambitions to put together a full band, and over the course of almost 3 years, we tried out several drummers and bass players, as well as one additional guitarist, but alas nothing ever really came of it—although we certainly had fun trying. Such is the challenge of putting together a "real band" when all the members are working hard with full-time jobs to make ends meet.

I do listen to this album occasionally, and I feel a lot of joy welling in my heart that, even though we never got anywhere near the "big leagues", at least we were able to produce this album (and even make a little money from it!)
